Well, we’re working into week two of moving!
In the new house, Marc has removed/re-located the center island (including sink) over to the side wall so that we could accommodate our 16-person dining room table (yeah!!). We’ve unexpectedly replaced the valve body in the main bathtub…since I wanted to give the girls a much-needed bath the other day and the water turned on, but…didn’t turn back off (oops!). We had no front exterior door (just a sheet of plywood, LOL), so that went in pretty much right away, and almost all of the interior doors had been stripped as well, so those are being worked on, too.
Today we woke up to rain and realized from the dripping overhead that the roof leak in the master bedroom is the next thing to be fixed. There was a tarp over it and we knew it’d have to be done eventually, but apparently (for whatever reason) the tarp hasn’t been–or no longer is–doing its job.
Both houses are a bit disorderly…but most of the stuff we “need” is in our new house and we’ve settled in there quite nicely. We’re feeling very blessed!
Now, we’ve got to whip our “old” house into shape for sale! Tomorrow we’re having new carpet installed in the lower level, so Marc did some paint touch-ups on the walls today. I got a lot of the remaining “stuff” from the bedrooms, kitchen, and living room boxed up; not moved yet, but ready to go. The master bedroom is still a wreck, as is the office. But everything else is shaping up pretty well.
Slow and steady wins the race…
What an exciting adventure for your family! Glad to hear you are almost done 🙂
Blessings to you!
Kellie
Oh my goodness! Ya, when you said you “woke up to rain”, you arne’t kidding!
As we too are in the throes of renovations, I feel for you… be blessed, try to trust… and keep dry! LOL!
Blessings,
Shannon
It’s funny how the busiest people keep adding on to their list of goals. I am the same way and I think it could be a mix of ADD and OCD. LOL! I always have several things going at once, although your blog is way better than mine. I love your insight into things and inspiration, they help me to keep going at times. Thank you for your ministry.
LOL, the tub ordeal…did the tubb run over? I love your blog, so much encouragement for Hsing Mom’s. Glad your moving adventure is almost over :0)
May I enter the raffle for the ticket to the UHSE? I am not sure how to do that…
Glad your move is going well. As I get older, the thought of moving really causes me stress 🙂
Joleen Williams
Moving is too stressful for me! I think we’re going to end up living in this house for the rest of our lives!
Please enter me in the drawing for the ticket to the UHSE.
Thanks!

Hello Cindy,
I can relate to your sitiuation, we’ve just moved back to the UK from Cyprus. The house we bought needed some renovations which are now finished, yipee! I’m now surrounded by boxes needing unpacked, the children have made a cardboard-box town in the yard with the empty boxes it’s kept them occupied for the last 2 days, I’ve hardly seen them. Great game – cardboard-boxes, sissors and some strong sticky tape ;0)
Hope the rest of your house move runs smoothly.
God Bless,
Heather x.
Hi, I could not find how to enter the raffle. It would be a great blessing for me to be able to attend the Ultimate Homeschool Expo as I am sure it would be for any homeschool mom. Thanks what a great opportunity. I imagine one great thing about your move is that it is not at the beginning of the school year.

I can not wait for the book telling us of all the fun adventures you had with the new house and the move.
We bought our home 8 years ago and are still fixing things. We hope to be done with the major repairs next year. Although it’s always alot of work renovating, I find it fun too.
Please enter me also in the drawing for Cindy Rushton’s UHSE. Thanks!

Rain dripping on your head now that is an alarm clock. 🙂

I admire your attitude during your move & pregnancy (when is the baby due? Or did I miss the birth?). When my second was due on 1/7 (2004), we had a 2.5 year old boy that I was trying to keep out of paint & exposed insulation & electrical wiring (you should see the photos!), while my husband did some major renovations to our home & working full time. It was the middle of December & I was resting in my accomplishment of having shipped out all of the Christmas packages going out of town. All I had left to do was wrap presents for our local part of the family. I had prepared our taxes thus far & was awaiting all the stuff to come in the mail to complete them. The house was prepared for my week-long stay at the hospital. My bag was packed, childcare arranged for during the scheduled c-section. Aaahhh! Things were on schedule & organized. THEN, my husband decided that "we'd" better finish the remodel now or it would never happen once the baby came. Ugh! This meant moving a hall closet, moving the front door & closing up a large window, putting a bedroom door where there used to be a window, all new flooring, all new interior paint. Everything had to come off the walls. All the china & such out of the furniture & everything had to come out of the rooms! Of the whole house, our toddler son barely had a 4'x5' space in the living room (in between large furniture) to play. I think I'm just now recovering from it! LOL
Anyway, I have just recently discovered your site & have only had a few short opportunities to check it out. Please enter me in the raffle for Cindy's Expo ticket & also let me know more about your BEEYoutiful giveaway (I've been looking into using it). Thank you! – Michelle
I didn’t realize your family was so big (16-person table) or is that for family gatherings. Anyway please enter me in the drawing for the UHSE. I would be so excited to win.
Thank you for sharing your heart.

Oh, to have a 16-person table…..!
Please also enter me in the UHSE drawing.
Thank you,
Nicole
Would love to be a fly on the wall around the holiday table. Family dinners must be a blast.
I actually like moving. Love unpacking a lot more than the packing. I can say that cuz I’m NOT the one doing all that work. lol
Blessings to you as you move. Having moved from state to state before, I can’t imagine undertaking your move.
Please enter me in the contest. Thank you.
I’m still drooling over the 16 person table :))
Please enter me in the contest.
Thanks.

What a great offer to try out the UHSE free! Please enter my family. Thanks so much for letting us know, and keeping us encouraged with value based living so unpopular in our culture.
Please enter my family in the drawing for the ticket for the Ultimate Homeschool Expo. Thanks so much for the encouragement.
Moving…SUCH fun. 😉 And good luck with selling.
I saw your e-mail about entering the raffle–though it went to my junk mail for some weird reason?? I’m not seeing any place in particular to do that, so I will just comment here and hope that enters me. 🙂 I wanted to do the Ultimate HS Expo, but didn’t feel we could spend the money, so it’s exciting to get a chance at it!
Please I would also like to be in drawing for the ticket of theUltimate HS Expo.
I have not been following your blog so I am a little confused :). I thought you were trying to sell your house because you planned to go to Kenya as missionaries. Why are you moving into another house? Just curious.
Please enter me in the drawing. Thanks!
I sympathize with all your unorganization! We’ve been remodeling one of our bathrooms and have had stuff piled in the hallway and the master bedroom. I’ve stubbed my toe more than once on things I’m not used to being there.
Please enter me into the UHSE ticket giveaway.
Thanks!

You all sound like very calm people! I know it is hard work moving with small kids and trying to keep everything going.
I would like to enter the contest for the UHSE ticket. Thank you for the opportunity.

I would like to enter the contest for UHSE. I pray your move will continue to be blessed.

As missionaries we have moved 14 times in almost 12 years of marriage. So I can’t say I envy your move, but it would be nice to move just across a field, and at your own pace 🙂 I will pray that the move continues to go well and your other house sells quickly.
I would love to be entered into your drawing for the UHSE. Thanks so much

We’re also getting ready for a move. Ours is a little different: we are moving from Singapore to India! What an adventure! Please enter me in the UHSE raffle! Thanks!
I would love to be entered into the drawing for the UHSE ticket.
Thanks for sharing all the laughs – and not so funny laughs with us. I also love the photo of the baby with the pig. I do hope that is not one of yours. Enjoy settling into your new home.
